Company
History
William May’s first factory was an old Smithy (metal works)
in Park Street, Ashton under-Lyne and it was a combination of the
address and the product that led to the name ‘Parmet’
a well known standard in heating products.
A decline
in the cloths drier market turned the thoughts of the young entrepreneurial
company towards air heaters, the first of which was sold in 1963.
The business prospered and the sheet metal skills of the company
were used to provide casings for the new heaters.
From
the production of their own make of heaters William May were appointed
sole distributor of an Italian product, The Accorroni range of heaters
and air conditioning products which over the years have proven durable
and reliable. The company has also developed skills in servicing
and maintenance under the regulation covering these appliances.
